The SWM 30km Trail Run is a challenging single-loop course on wide-ranging terrain and sound technicality. The loop traverses 3 lake basins all of which involve getting your feet wet and no fewer than 6 moderate climbs of about 100 meters in length but (but no significant elevation gain).

This is not an event for beginners. You should have done at-least a half marathon successfully within a few months to enter!

Generally, the route consists of over 10km of salt-lake running then 20km run on dirt trails. The end of the run is fairly easier (final four kilometres). You run on top of the ridge between lakes Magadi and Natron, which provides us with a wonderful view out over the lake's plateau and the adjacent Oldonyo Lokie and Oldonyo Sabuk Mountains. This final part has some loose surfaces, it pays to keep a careful watch on the ground as you run towards the finish. But, with the finish line in sight you can now take it nice and easy

The 20km Trail Run at SWM is the most popular event, it is ideal for avid runners who have already done 10km and would like to graduate to the half marathon. The race course, much like the 30km trail course, is very scenic and includes over 6km of salt-lake spa running. The course has 2 moderate climbs but mostly runs on jeep tracks.

This is an ideal event for intermediate runners who can run 10k comfortably and would like to take on the challenge of a half-marathon

The end of the run is fairly easier (final four kilometres). You run on top of the ridge between lakes Magadi and Natron, which provides us with a wonderful view out over the lake's plateau and the adjacent Oldonyo Lokie and Oldonyo Sabuk Mountains.
